The Honourable Marlin Schmidt, Minister of Alberta Innovation and Advanced Education, has appointed Amanda Hu, Natasha Pashak and James Stanford O.C. to the Alberta College of Art + Design (ACAD) Board of Governors.
Amanda Hu has been involved in the Calgary art and media arts communities, as an employee and volunteer, since her graduation from the University of Calgary in 2012. As a board member at Quickdraw Animation Society, TRUCK Contemporary Art In Calgary and Mountain Standard Time Performative Art Festival, she has worked on strategic planning, chaired discussions on large organizational financial decisions and invested much time and energy into executing two significant facility relocations.
In addition to this experience, her familiarity of ACAD as an institution is extensive. Amanda has worked closely with graduates, employees and sessional and tenured faculty at the College and has collaborated on joint presentations with the Illingworth Kerr Gallery.
Natasha Pashak, originally appointed to the ACAD Board of Governors in 2013, returns for a three-year term. As a previous chair of the ACAD Governance + HR Committee, Natasha was heavily involved with the successful revision of Board bylaws.
An ACAD alumna (drawing 2002), Natasha went on to achieve an MA (art history) from Concordia University in 2010. She is actively involved in the community, serving on the board of Contemporary Calgary and the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board.
James Stanford O.C. is returning to the ACAD Board of Governors for a second three-year term. James is the President of Stanford Resource Management Inc., and retired President, CEO and Director of Petro-Canada. The former chair of the ACAD Finance + Audit Committee, James has been sharing his extensive knowledge with ACAD for many years.
“These appointees join ACAD’s current board members at a critical time for our institution,” said Dr. Daniel Doz, ACAD President + CEO. “I am confident we have the strong leadership we need to move our strategic goals and objectives forward.”
