Alaynee Goodwill-Littlechild Named As AGA's TD Curator of Indigenous Creativity
Alaynee Goodwill-Littlechild has been named as the Art Gallery of Alberta's new TD Curator of Indigenous Creativity.
“This initiative amplifies Indigenous knowledge as both rooted in history and essential to our future,” said Catherine Crowston, AGA Executive Director and Chief Curator, in a news release. “TD’s multi-year funding demonstrates leadership in the sustained support of our country’s art organizations as they strive to make transformative change.”
Goodwill-Littlechild has more than 20 years of experience in bringing Indigenous perspectives to community outreach, arts programming, and collaborations with artists and cultural groups in Edmonton and beyond. Her art, which includes beadwork, quillwork, parfleche painting and ledger art, has been featured at the Royal Alberta Museum, Alberta Foundation for the Arts Virtual Museum, The Works Art and Design Festival, The Calgary Stampede Centennial Art Auction and The Museum of Vancouver.
In her new AGA position, she will develop exhibitions and programming that spotlight Indigenous, First Nations, Inuit, and Métis artists. “I’m honoured to step into this role,” said Goodwill-Littlechild in the release. “I am committed to sharing, preserving, and uplifting Indigenous creativity in collaboration with TD and the AGA. Together, we advance this vital work.”
