Alberta Foundation for the Arts (AFA) funding has been increased by $4.5 million, up by 18 per cent from last year, to $30.1 million for 2024-25.
“In addition to this year’s increase, the Government of Alberta has committed to incrementally increasing funding to the AFA so that it will reach nearly $40 million by 2026,” according to a news release.
The money will be used to support art across the province, by funding artists and arts activities that engage audiences, as well as organizations that bring audiences and artists together.
The AFA has not yet made any decisions related to allocations. The board is working on a plan for allocating the budget amongst programs and services.
The funding increase was made public during the Government of Alberta's 2024 Budget announcement.
