Three Indigenous artists – Kablusiak, Lauren Crazybull and Tamara Lee-Anne Cardinal – are being honoured with $10,000 Emerging Artist awards from the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta.
The awards recognize promising artists at an early stage of their careers.
The awards, presented every second year, support the needs of emerging artists, whether supplies, further study, or even income replacement for work unrelated to art.
Kablusiak, Calgary
What Kablusiak has accomplished in their very young career is nothing short of astounding. The jury was enthusiastic about celebrating this remarkable artist and are excited to support their practice that spans media and defies categorization.

Tamara Lee-Anne Cardinal, Calgary
Tamara works with a level of sophistication that is really admirable. The jury was impressed not only with the quality and impact of her work but the degree to which the ideals and concepts transcend the work itself and are embodied in her way of working.
