Students Head Back to Classes After Fire at Emily Carr University
Vancouver's Emily Carr University of Art and Design was continuing restoration work as students returned to classes after an Oct. 5 fire that damaged offices and hallways.
Vancouver police say Nathan MacLeod, 40, has been charged with two counts of break and enter and one count of arson.
While fire damage was limited to the research and industry office and nearby hallways, water used to extinguish the blaze caused significant damage to other walls and ceilings.
Staff returned to work on Oct. 9, once administrative and common areas were deemed safe. Faculty were invited to return the following day, although some areas remained closed.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Vancouver Police major crime section at 604-717-2541 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
