Murray Whyte, the Toronto Star's longtime art critic, and an occasional writer for Galleries West, joins the Boston Globe in mid-November.
Whyte, who grew up partly in Calgary, has covered the visual arts for the Star for a decade. In 2016, he won a National Newspaper Award, Canada's top journalism prize, for arts and entertainment writing.
Whyte said he’s just getting to know the museums around Boston but said of the city: “I do know that it’s absolutely a trove of historical treasures.”
“For me there’s a lot to engage with,” he said. “And a lot to learn.”
