"Art for War and Peace" book scores major USA award
Art for War and Peace
ART FOR WAR AND PEACE, a history of the Sampson-Matthews silkscreen prints by Ian Sigvaldason and Scott Steedman, and published by Read Leaf Press, has won the Benjamin Franklin gold seal award in the Art/Photography category of the Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) in the USA -- a remarkable feat at anytime but especially for a Canadian book.
Held in conjunction with the IBPA's Publishing University this year in Salt Lake City, the 2016 Benjamin Franklin Awards™ ceremony was held at a gala dinner on April 8.
The IBPA Benjamin Franklin Award for excellence in book publishing is regarded as one of the highest honours in the USA for small and independent publishers. The awards are administered by the IBPA with help from over 150 book publishing professionals including librarians, bookstore owners, reviewers, designers, publicity managers, and editors.
ART FOR WAR AND PEACE (Hardcover, 240 pages, ISBN: 978-1-927018-70-5) is available in bookstores and online. Sampson-Matthews original silkscreens, issued by the National Gallery of Canada, are represented by Pegasus Gallery.
