Art Gallery of Alberta rolls out the first in a series of admission changes
The Art Gallery of Alberta has announced that beginning March 28, all children, youth under 18, and Alberta’s students will have free access to the gallery.
From March 28 onwards, admission to the AGA during regular operating hours will be free for anyone:
- Under 18 years of age; and
- 18+ with valid Alberta student ID.
Any children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
With the support of the City of Edmonton, these increased admission and engagement initiatives are a fundamental part of the AGA’s new 5-year strategic plan. This plan is designed to
- provide more access to Edmontonians and Albertans,
- increase the number of people who visit the gallery regularly,
- reach new audiences in Edmonton, Alberta, and beyond, and
- provide ongoing engaging visitor experiences.
The first new admission model will take effect when the AGA opens at 11 AM Tuesday morning.
The remaining models will be announced in the coming months.
The AGA’s regular operating hours are weekends 10 am – 5 pm and weekdays from 11 am – 5 pm, with extended hours to 8pm on Wednesday and Thursday evenings
