Art Gallery of Grande Prairie Announces New Executive Director
“The Board of Directors of the Prairie Gallery Society is pleased to announce that Jeff Erbach has been hired as Executive Director,” said Board Chair, Kendra Davis. “Jeff’s experience in arts management, knowledge of a diverse range of artistic practices, and community centered cultural development, is a valuable asset to both the AGGP and Grande Prairie.”
Jeff has over 20 years background in curation, artistic practice, community outreach and event planning, and has extensive arts administration experience at both regional and national levels.
He collaborated with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (TRC) team and the community in building the vision as the Creative Manager. His work at the TRC saw him nurture complex relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists, churches, schools, tribal councils and others, on regional and national scales, requiring a high degree of diplomacy and sensitivity.
As the Manager of Community and Cultural Development for the City of Regina, Jeff developed strategies and policies for all municipal ventures within the artistic, cultural and also social development sectors. He also led the creation of the City’s first ever Cultural Plan which set out Regina’s role for the next 10 years in the development of the Arts and culture.
“I feel really fortunate to be given this opportunity with the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie,” said Jeff. “It’s not difficult to stand on the significant and impressive accomplishments of the work so far. It’s also tempting to dream about how the Gallery can, through the Arts, contribute to a vibrant, inclusive and attractive community.”
Jeff will be moving to Grande Prairie from Shaunavon, SK where he served as the Director of the Grand Coteau Heritage and Cultural Centre. Jeff began his position at the AGGP on February 1st, 2017.
