Art Toronto, which runs Oct. 26 to Oct. 29 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, will feature work from 110 galleries in Canada and beyond.
Director Mia Nielsen promises "real gravitas," saying organizers have worked to expand the annual fair's network with world-class art galleries and museums.
Kitty Scott, former chief curator at the National Gallery of Canada, is organizing the fair's Focus exhibition, Good Foot Forward, which includes 15 artists represented by participating galleries. Their work speaks to land, sovereignty, ancestral knowledge and healing, among other themes.
An opening night benefit will support the McMichael Canadian Art Collection in Kleinburg, Ont., with tickets running at $300 and $400, depending on entry time.
A new multi-year program includes eight galleries that are highlighting some of the country's top emerging talent.
The fair also offers a range of talks, panel discussions and curatorial tours.
