Bill Brownridge, the first artist to be inducted into the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame, is known for his hockey paintings.
He grew up in rural Saskatchewan with spina bifida, but was able to indulge his passion for hockey as both an artist and author.
Now 89 and living in Victoria, he has written five children's picture books about hockey and designed the uniforms worn by the Calgary Flames from 1994 to 2000.
His paintings are on view at Gibson Fine Art in Calgary until June 4 in an exhibition titled The Great Hurrah.
He is the first artist to be inducted into Saskatchewan's sports shrine since it was founded in 1966. The ceremony takes place on Sept. 24 in Regina.
