Mark Heine’s painting, Labyrinth, has won the Haynes Galleries Award at the Art Renewal Centre Salon, a major global competition for contemporary realism.
Heine is the first Canadian to win this title, and one of only nine artists selected to receive it this year.
The Art Renewal Centre is a non-profit, educational organization that hosts an online museum dedicated to realist art. The salon received more than 4,300 entries from 73 countries.
Labyrinth will tour for more than a year as part of a large show that heads first to Spain and concludes at Sotheby’s in New York.
The Haynes Galleries, located near Nashville, Tennessee, will host a group exhibition this fall that will include a number of Heine’s other paintings.
