Beaverlodge-born artist Robert Guest passed away suddenly on June 13 in Nanaimo, B.C.
He was born in 1938 and after working for the Alberta Forest Service, he taught as an art instructor for 10 years – N.A.I.T., U of A, GPRC, and Fairview College.
Robert has contributed greatly over the years to the strengthening of Alberta’s artistic community. He was one of the founding members of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts in 1972 as well as the Prairie Art Gallery in 1975.
For many years Robert had hiked the Rocky Mountains which became the source of many of his landscape paintings for which he was noted. His drawings and paintings have been represented in many exhibitions, and are in numerous private collections throughout North America, including the collection of Her Majesty The Queen.
He will be truly missed. Our condolences go out to his wife Myrtle and daughter Moya.
A profile of Robert Guest by Wendy Stefansson ran in The Art of the Peace magazine in the Fall 2016 issue.
