Banff Centre Reopens
The Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity is partially reopening its campus for the summer.
"Words cannot express how excited we all are to start welcoming people back," says the centre's president, Janice Price.
The Walter Phillips Gallery has launched the exhibition A Harlem Nocturne by Montreal-based Deanna Bowen, the winner of this year's Scotiabank Photography Award. The exhibition is open to visitors on Friday and Sunday afternoons. Virtual tours are available Thursdays and Saturdays.
The Banff Centre's restaurant, the Maclab Grill, will open July 5, with takeaway and a large outdoor eating area. The fitness centre will open in July. Only the climbing wall and rooms for weight training and cardio will be available, with progressive reopening of the pool and fitness classes as the summer continues.
In mid-August, tours of the redesigned Jenny Belzberg Theatre will resume.
The centre anticipates starting up small conferences and arts and leadership training programs in September.
Digital programming will continue, with free livestreamed concerts until July 10 through EvoFest: Evolution Concert Series. In September, the centre will have free online concerts as part of the Banff International String Quartet Festival.
