The BC Museums Association has honoured Ian Thom, a former curator at the Vancouver Art Gallery, with its distinguished service award.
Thom was selected unanimously by the awards committee in recognition of his contributions to public understandings of Canadian art and the histories that shaped it.
It was one of several awards made during the association's annual conference last week in Prince George that recognized institutions and individuals who exemplify excellence in the province’s museums, galleries and history community.
“These awards highlight the transformative power of museums and are an opportunity to celebrate the amazing impact that museums and museum professionals make in our communities," said Ryan Hunt, the association's executive director.
