Artist Bridget Moser and Sharon Fortney, the curator of Indigenous collections and engagement at the Vancouver Museum, have won mid-career prizes from the Hnatyshyn Foundation.
Moser, a Toronto-based performance and video artist, receives the foundation's visual arts award, along with $25,000.
She has presented her work at the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Remai Modern in Saskatoon and the Vancouver Art Gallery, among other venues.
Fortney takes home $15,000, along with the award for curatorial excellence.
"It is important to me that my work supports what communities are trying to achieve," says Fortney, who has Coast Salish roots.
They were chosen by independent panels of art experts.
