Calgary's Truck Gallery on the move
TRUCK Gallery new location
TRUCK will kick off their 30th anniversary year with a bang by opening a new gallery location.
This fall TRUCK Gallery will be moving to a new, larger, accessible, street level gallery space located in Sunalta community. The new venue is more than double their current square footage, with ground level, barrier free, access just blocks away from the new West LRT Sunalta Station.
For the past 17 year TRUCK Gallery has made the basement of the Grain exchange Building its home. In that time they have presented high quality contemporary art programming in one of the most distinctive and truly underground cultural venues in Calgary, But activities have outgrown current space and after 2 decades in the basement they look forward to launching new space in the Sunalta community.
NEW EVENTS: And to celebrate artist-run culture in Calgary, and our 30th year of operations, on September 6th 2013, we will launch our new space with a massive 30th Anniversary group exhibition featuring works from two local collectives: AVALANCHE! and The Bakery. We will also re-launch The Parkade project space as a black box new media/installation gallery, with the work of Calgary-based artist Linda Carreiro. Later in the month of September we will also be participating in Nuit Blanche with a collaborative work by Robyn Moody (Calgary) and Denton Fredrickson (Lethbridge). Presented the same night as TRUCK’s 30th Birthday Party, complete with a shuttle between the festivities in our gallery and those off-site at Olympic Plaza.
