Calgary Public Library and Contemporary Calgary Announce Art Pass Partnership
Calgary Public Library and Contemporary Calgary have partnered to create the Contemporary Calgary Art Pass.
A six-month pilot project, Contemporary Calgary Art Pass is an interactive book project. Patrons will be able to check out an Art Pass book at any Calgary Public Library.
They can then take the Art Pass book to Contemporary Calgary to get free access to the gallery, as many times as they would like over a three-week loan period.
The Art Pass is interactive; users are encouraged to add their own creations and thoughts to each book.
A digital version will also be available on Libby.
“Over time, the Art Pass books will become a collection of thoughts and reflections from our community and will showcase how art brings joy and reflection to our lives,” according to the Calgary Public Library.
The project has been funded by a Contemporary Calgary donor.
“We want everyone in Calgary to have an opportunity to come to the gallery and be inspired by the amazing art that is on display without barriers,” said David Leinster, Contemporary Calgary's CEO. “We hope these membership books make space for reflection and to encourage conversation and dialogue within its pages as they are passed from person to person over time.”
Art Pass books will be available to borrow starting March 8 from all 21 Calgary Public Library locations.
