Calgary's Glenbow Closes Due to COVID-19
Calgary's Glenbow Museum has closed temporarily after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19, the museum announced Friday.
A spokesperson said the staff member, who was not identified, had not been in contact with the public.
"Out of an abundance of caution, we are temporarily closing Glenbow’s building to do a deep clean and prevent any chance of further transmission of the virus," Jenny Conway Fisher said in a statement.
The downtown museum will stay closed through Nov. 13.
"Behind the scenes at Glenbow we have rigorous internal protocols of masking and physical distancing and a fantastic cleaning team," she said. "We are following all Alberta Health Services guidelines to keep our staff and visitors safe.
"As we navigate strange times together, we are deeply appreciative of our community and we want to keep you all healthy and inspired."
The closure will postpone a free public access week from Oct. 31 to Nov. 8 that the museum had planned to mark the start of renovations to its upper floors.
The free week is now scheduled from noon to 5 p.m. starting Nov. 14 and ending Nov. 22.
Visitors must reserve timed tickets before they arrive to maintain physical distancing.
