The Canada Council for the Arts has set up a new strategic innovation fund worth more than $200 million over the next five years.
It says the goal is to build resilience, sustainability and equity in the arts by supporting individual artists and arts organizations to create meaningful change.
The fund has three main components – Seed, Grow and Cultivate.
The Seed stream provides grants of up to $25,000 for small-scale innovations. Both individual artists and arts organizations are eligible.
The Grow component offers up to $1 million to organizations. It offers multi-year funding to bolster support for existing innovation projects. The deadline for expressions of interest is April 13.
The Cultivate stream is not open yet, but will provide up to $250,000 to individual artists and organizations for innovative projects that address issues in the arts sector and beyond.
