Canada House expansion

After 42 years, the Bow Valley’s largest gallery is about to get LARGER!

Canada House opened on May 1, 1974 on the corner of Bear & Caribou Streets with 1000 square feet. It was the first store in Banff to specialize in Canadian made art and crafts and the first retail store located off Banff Avenue.

Peter & Marika McCaffrey had the vision and invested the hard work that launched Canada House Gallery which expanded in 1994 to take over the A&W space which grew the gallery to over 4000 square feet.

Their youngest daughter, Barbara Pelham and her husband and partner Eric Pelham continue that passion and commitment to showcase the best of Canadian art. Owning the gallery since 2000 the Pelhams secured membership in the AD-AC, The Art Dealers Association of Canada and continue to be the only gallery in a Canadian resort town to belong to the esteemed organization.

Barbara and Eric are thrilled to grow the gallery once again, adding 450 square feet and, more importantly, 40 feet of windows facing south and southwest around the corner of Lynx & Caribou Streets. Now, half of Banff visitors will be greeted by windows showcasing prime Canadian paintings and sculpture. As always, Canada House Gallery strives to be a welcoming environment for locals and visitors to enjoy an array of Canada’s top visual artists.

Representing over 50 painters, 20 sculptors plus Inuit art, Canada House Gallery remains a destination within a destination.
