Mark your calendars for the first annual Canadian Art Hop.
Created by the Art Dealers Association of Canada (ADAC) and its member galleries, it takes place April 25 to 28 in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
Public galleries and artist-run centres are also participating, including the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, Audain Art Museum, Beaverbrook Art Gallery, Esker Foundation, McMichael Canadian Art Collection, Nickle Galleries and the Art Gallery of Alberta.
Special events, talks and tours are scheduled throughout the Canadian Art Hop. Each participating province has been divided by zone, with online maps — including suggested walking routes — for art-lovers to follow.
Can't make it this weekend? The maps will remain online year-round.
“I am proud to have over 90 participants in a weekend that celebrates art across our country. I wish I was able to see everything over the four days,” said Mackenzie Sinclair, co-organizer of the event.
ADAC is a national not-for-profit organization representing commercial galleries across Canada. “With a mission to promote the dissemination and appreciation of Canadian art both nationally and internationally, ADAC serves as an advocate for the visual arts community, fostering collaboration, innovation, and excellence in artistic practice,” according to the ADAC website.
