Canadian Museum of History Looks for New Director Amidst Controversy
The Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau, Que., is looking for a new director as the current leader, Mark O'Neill, remains on leave during an investigation into harassment complaints.
O'Neill, the museum's head since 2011, went on leave in August after trustees were told of workplace problems that are now under review by Michelle Flaherty, an independent investigator.
Details of the complaints have not been made public.
The federal government has advertised the position, with a salary that ranges from $226,000 to $265,800 a year. O'Neill's term is due to end in June.
The Globe and Mail is quoting a spokesman in Heritage Minister Steven Guilbeault's office as saying that advertising the position is "standard procedure" as hiring processes can take six months.
The museum, a Crown corporation, also operates the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa.
