Christina Cuthbertson Named As Whyte's New Director of Curatorial Initiatives
Christina Cuthbertson has been named as the new Director of Curatorial Initiatives at the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies.
She comes to the Whyte from the Leighton Art Centre, where she has been the executive director since 2021. Previous to that, she was a curator at the Southern Alberta Art Gallery, where she curated, co-curated and managed more than 50 exhibitions and public art projects. An occasional Galleries West contributor, she has also written for other publications including the artist monographs, Brendan Fernandes: Still Move, and Mary Kavanagh: Daughters of Uranium.
“Throughout my career, I’ve been driven by a desire to connect art with audiences, grounded in my own experience of being transformed in the presence of art,” she said in a release. “I look forward to advancing the museum's goals of inclusion and accessibility, creating new approaches to exhibitions and programs that invite all to engage deeply with the diverse stories and histories we preserve and share.”
