Vancouver's Contemporary Art Gallery will present eight recent works by Vancouver-based artist Babak Golkar at the Servais Family Collection at The Loft in Brussels.
All the blind men, on view from March 1 to March 28, follows Golkar’s two-year investigation into the possibilities of painting and its tenacity as a means to carry meaning and value.
The subjects of these representational works draw upon key historical characters and political moments from the last century that continue to resonate with uncomfortable potency today.
The exhibition’s title refers to a parable about a group of sightless men who come to blows while attempting to describe an elephant based on the part of the animal’s body they are able to touch.
Golkar, born in the United States and raised in Tehran, has been based in Vancouver since 1996.
