Cynthia Moore has been appointed as the new Alberta Foundation for the Arts (AFA) Board Chair. She started the position on April 10.
Moore will lead the AFA board in implementing the increased government funding, funding that will see the AFA reach a record budget of more than $39 million in the next three years.
A longtime philanthropist and supporter of the arts in Alberta, Moore was the president of the United Conservative Party (UCP) from 2021 to 2023. A former Calgary Health Trust director, she is also a Calgary Health Foundation honorary patron.
She assumes the AFA role after the former board chair Paul Baay was appointed as chair of the Board of Governors at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity.
