Don Stein Retires at Yorkton's Godfrey Dean Art Gallery
Don Stein, the longtime executive director of the Godfrey Dean Art Gallery in Yorkton, Sask., has retired.
"Don’s good-naturedness and his diplomacy have made being on the board a privilege rather than an obligation," Stephanie Newsham, chair of the gallery's board of directors posted on Facebook.
"His dedication to the gallery for the last 14 years has shown his great love of art and artists. Don is a perfectionist and his attention to detail has resulted in many beautiful art shows, from the presentation of the art to the wonderful artist receptions he put together. He will be greatly missed by our board."
Tonia Vermette, the administrator of the Yorkton Arts Council, called Stein "a great catalyst and sounding board for creative arts programming" in Yorkton.
"Don’s stories, humour and creativity will be greatly missed," she said in a Facebook post.
Stein, who hopes to travel to India once the pandemic eases, says he was blessed with a supportive board, and a supportive community.
"The years just melted away," he said.
