Sarah Newstead

Dr. Sarah Newstead has been appointed as the new chief executive officer and executive director of the Galt Museum & Archives and Fort Whoop-Up in Lethbridge, Alta.

Newstead succeeds Darrin Martens, who announced his retirement from the Galt in March 2024. 

“Sarah brings a wealth of experience and expertise, having earned her Ph.D. in Archaeology from the University of Leicester,” said Jesse Sadlowski, Galt Board of Directors chair, in a news release.

“Her leadership as the executive director at the Atlas Coal Mine National Historic Site in Drumheller since 2017 speaks volumes about her capabilities.”
