The Edmonton Arts Council, the City of Edmonton, and Edmonton Community Foundation have announced the 2024 recipients of the annual Edmonton Artists’ Trust Fund Award.
Twenty artists have have been presented with the award, worth $15,000 apiece, for a total of $300,000.
The awards are supported with proceeds from the Edmonton Artists’ Trust Fund, held by the Edmonton Community Foundation. The fund was established by the Edmonton Community Foundation with a gift of $100,000 from John and Barbara Poole in 1997. Since then, the fund has grown to $1.9 million and has provided more than $1.2 million to Edmonton artists.
“I’m grateful to have received this award on the prairies, at home, nominated and supported by people who have seen something important or meaningful in my work,” said Kiona Callihoo Ligtvoet, a multi-disciplinary artist who is one of this year’s recipients.
“This will help me to continue caring for my studio practice, so I can keep visiting and learning from my family, and just intentionally being here.”
