Emily Carr University Rated as Top Art School in Canada
Vancouver's Emily Carr University is one of the world's top universities for art and design, according to the 2021 QS World University Rankings.
The university climbed 10 spots since last year to rank as number 30 in the world and remains the top art institution in Canada. It is the only Canadian university included in the world’s top 50.
Gillian Siddall, the university's president, says the recognition is a reflection of the institution's talented community.
"Our faculty are at the forefront of art and design thinking not only in Canada, but globally," she says. "Our dedicated staff, our distinguished alumni and, of course, our remarkable students are pushing the boundaries on what higher education can accomplish.
"And our transdisciplinary research is redefining the ways academia can contribute to a better future. I couldn’t be prouder to be a part of this team of brilliant people.”
The annual report from British-based analytics firm Quacquarelli Symonds ranks art and design universities based on academic reputation and employer reputation. More than 5,500 universities from around the world were considered this year.
