Fellows inducted and new Chair elected at GLENBOW AGM
Glenbow announced the induction of music legend Ian Tyson, Calgary philanthropist Dr. Marmie Hess and late Kainai elder Frank Weasel Head as Fellows of the Glenbow-Alberta Institute at the museum’s Annual General Assembly on September 16.
Fellows are elected by the Board of Governors in recognition of their outstanding contributions in the humanities, arts and sciences and in advancement of knowledge that supports Glenbow’s goals. These are lifetime appointments recognizing the impressive role the Fellows have played in shaping our community, our understanding of the West, and in making Glenbow a stronger and better place.
The AGA also saw the election of Jim McLeod as Board Chair. A native Calgarian and a fourth generation Albertan, McLeod joined the Glenbow Board in 2015. He is a graduate of the University of Calgary with a BA in Economics and a BA in Political Science. Jim worked in the petroleum sector for 30 years, recently retiring from Nexen Energy ULC where he held various technical and management assignments in Calgary and Yemen. He contributes actively to the community through several boards and organizations. Jim takes over from outgoing Glenbow Board Chair, Jack Thrasher, who served as Chair since 2011.
