Finalists Announced for the Lind Prize
Established in 2016, the Philip B. Lind Emerging Artist Prize is awarded annually to an artist enrolled in a BFA or MFA program in British Columbia, working in film, photography or video.
The winner, to be announced Sept. 20, will receive $5,000 toward the commissioning of a new work to be exhibited next year at North Vancouver's Polygon Gallery.
More than 30 artists were nominated from across the province.
The nine finalists are:
- Krystle Coughlin
- Noah Friebel
- Laura Gildner
- Christopher Lacroix
- Ramey Newell
- Lola Storey
- Theo Terry
- Matthew Wong
- Graeme Wahn
They represent the Emily Carr University of Art and Design, the University of British Columbia, the University of Victoria and Simon Fraser University.
The finalists were selected by a jury comprised of Nina Bozicnik, associate curator at the Henry Art Gallery in Seattle; Amy Kazymerchyk, curator of the Audain Gallery in Vancouver; and Vancouver artist Ian Wallace.
Work by the finalists will remain on view at the Polygon from Sept. 21 to Oct. 7.
