Vancouver artist Myfanwy MacLeod presents her first British solo show, Neighbours, at Canada House in London from March 1 to June 8.
MacLeod is known for irreverent works that explore the overlap between pop culture, folklore, traditions and history. Her practice examines how “high” and “low” culture are interpreted through themes of gender, privilege and value.
Central to the exhibition is a sequence of framed watercolours of birds created in 2018 as the basis for a series of large-scale posters displayed at 20 sites around Vancouver. It corresponded with the 100th anniversary of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act between Canada and the United States.
