There has been lots of news recently about about new gallery spaces and moves in Alberta and British Columbia.
In Victoria, Gunter Heinrich and Anthony Sam have expanded their Winchester Galleries - Oak Bay with a second location opposite the Hudson's Bay at 665 Fort St. Winchester Galleries - Downtown, opened June 10 with new work by Greg Murdock.
In Vancouver, the Coastal Peoples Fine Arts Gallery has moved a few doors west to a larger, two-level, open-concept space at 332 Water St. in Gastown. The gallery will hold its grand opening on June 24 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Also in Vancouver, Deanna Geisheimer recently relocated her Art Works Gallery from Yaletown to 1536 Venables St.
Banff has seen the opening of the Carter-Ryan Gallery and Live Art Space - Banff at 229 Bear St. just in time for Banff's first Gallery and Wine Hop on June 17. Jason Carter and Bridget Ryan also continue with their gallery of the same name in Canmore.
In Edmonton, the 124 Street gallery hub welcomes Andrew Udell and Melissa Lavoie opening as UX Udell Xhibitions at 10332-124 St. in the former Douglas Udell Gallery location. The gallery opens officially on June 22 with a show by Cory Nespor.
Near Calgary, in Okotoks, partners Cheryl Taylor and Janifer Calvez have refurbished the heritage home at 33 Elma St. and opened as Lineham House Galleries, showing art work on both levels.
In Calgary, the cSpace - King Edward arts hub has been welcoming individual artists and organizations all spring. The latest is an exhibition and sales space for the Alberta Craft Gallery - Calgary, which will open June 17 at the same time as the organization holds its AGM and bids farewell to retiring executive director Tom McFall. The Citizens of Craft exhibition opens June 24.
