Major headlines have gone to the recent opening of Emily Carr University of Art and Design at its new location and anticipation of the Remai Modern's opening on Oct. 21, but lots more is happening.
In Alberta, June Lundie took over the Main Gallery and Framing Studio in Lacombe and Pavlina Krayzel opened the Room at Home Gallery in High River. More recently, Sophia Lebessis opened her Inuit-specialized Transformation Fine Art in Calgary. And, on Nov. 1, Rachel Bouchard will move The Front Gallery in Edmonton a short distance to a larger space at 10402 - 124 St.
Over the summer Hambleton Galleries in Kelowna welcomed new owners Joshua and Allison Peters as Stew and Tracy Turcotte retired.
Meanwhile, on Vancouver Island, Gabriel Taschereau and Jaqui Austin opened the Art in the Barn Gallery between Victoria and Sidney; Winchester Galleries opened a second location, this one in downtown Victoria; and the former Dales Gallery re-opened after major renovations as the Fortune Gallery.
In Saskatoon, artist Denyse Klette and her husband recently opened their Bohème Art Gallery.
