Gilles Hébert Named Interim Executive Director at Plug In ICA in Winnipeg
Gilles Hébert has been named the interim executive director at Plug In Institute of Contemporary Art in Winnipeg, starting July 30.
He replaces Allison Yearwood, who is moving on to new challenges.
Hébert holds a bachelor of arts from the University of Manitoba. He has held numerous director positions at galleries across Canada, including the Plug In in Winnipeg; Saskatoon's Mendel Art Gallery; Windsor's Art Gallery of Windsor; and Edmonton's Art Gallery of Alberta. He received the Queen’s Jubilee Gold Medal in 2002 and the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Arts Celebrated Alumni Award in 2010.
“With over three decades of experience in both contemporary and historical art, Gilles brings a wealth of expertise in collections, exhibitions, community relations, and innovative programming,” reads a news release from Plug In ICA. “His commitment to educational and community-based initiatives underscores his dedication to enriching cultural discourse and engagement.”
