Glenbow Announces Closure of Temporary Location
Glenbow in Calgary announced this week that its temporary location, Glenbow at The Edison, has permanently closed. Glenbow at The Edison has operated as a satellite gallery in downtown Calgary and has been open since April 2022, when the main Glenbow building closed to undergo a major renovation.
“It was an honour to welcome 67,588 visitors to 10 exceptional exhibitions in this special gallery,” the Glenbow team said in a news release.
“Glenbow at The Edison was made possible with generous support from MobSquad. Thank you to Downtown Calgary and Calgary Foundation for supporting free admission for all visitors.”
In 2025 and 2026, the focus will be on finishing the renovations and developing the space in the JR Shaw Centre for Arts & Culture, scheduled to open in 2026. The building will include 34 new exhibition spaces, plus dedicated spaces for programming, community engagement and research.
