Glenbow Ready to Begin Renovations in October
Calgary's Glenbow Museum is ready to begin $115-million renovations as early as October.
The project, which will take more than two years to complete, will see a complete interior and exterior renovation of the downtown building.
The provincial government is contributing $40 million to the project, expected to create 650 jobs.
Calgary-based DIALOG, has been selected as the prime consultant. Ellis Don will lead construction management. RJC was awarded the engineering lead and M3 Development Management will handle development management.
The gallery says it has not yet set a closing date.
"As soon as we secure funding and can proceed, we will announce the closure to the community and give ample time to visit," says the gallery's marketing specialist Anna Lake.
"When construction does begin, we will close the current location and are planning a pop-up location to show exhibitions and online/virtual programming. As a key element to this process we will also be initiating consultation with our community this fall."
