A large golden egg has been stolen from a $2.8 million bronze sculpture by Surrealist artist Salvador Dali in central Vancouver, according to recent reports by CBC and CTV.
The sculpture of a woman's torso, titled Space Venus, belongs to the Chali-Rosso Art Gallery, a private gallery, and was supposed to remain on outdoor display until October.
The egg, stolen in the early morning hours of June 22, is actually made of bronze

"We're still reeling," gallery director Oree Gianacopoulos told CTV. "We're really optimistic that someone will do the right thing and return the egg. It has no value to anybody other than us. It doesn’t have any intrinsic value, you can't sell it.
"Unless you've got a big golden goose somewhere that needs an egg, I don’t know what you need it for."
