Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada, announced 125 new appointments to the Order of Canada on December 29, 2017. The new member list includes 4 Companions (C.C.), 35 Officers (O.C.) and 86 Members (C.M.). Artists Ken Lum, O.C. ( For his contributions as contemporary artist whose work has been exhibited around the world, and for his mentorship of emerging artists.), Andrew Qappik C.M. (For his contributions to defining the visual culture of Nunavut as a master printmaker and sculptor.) and Réal Bérard C.M. (For his contributions as a visual artist and cartoonist and for his support of various fundraisers benefitting the Franco-Manitoban community.) were among the new members. Recipients will be invited to accept their insignia at a ceremony to be held at a later date.
