Grande Prairie Art Gallery Hires New Curator
The Art Gallery of Grande Prairie in Northern Alberta has hired a new curator, Manar Abo Touk, a Syrian-Canadian who specializes in international contemporary art.
She has a Master of Arts in museum and gallery studies from Kingston University in London, and has worked at the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa, the aluCine Latin Film+Media Arts Festival in Toronto, and as the arts manager and curator at the Al Riwaq Art Space in Bahrain.
The gallery has also hired a new travelling exhibition manager and curator in Robin Lynch, a former pre-doctoral fellow at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C., and a PhD candidate in art history at McGill University in Montreal.
She has a Master of Arts in curatorial studies from Bard College, N.Y., and has worked at national and international museums and galleries.
A third hire is the new manager of development and administration. Brittany Kelsey previously worked at the Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum in Wembley, Alta.
"The gallery has ambitious plans and we’re confident we can make these real with the addition of these talented women,” says director Jeff Erbach.
