Hera Chan has been appointed as Tate Modern's new adjunct curator, Asia-Pacific. The position is supported by Asymmetry Art Foundation.
Based in Hong Kong, Chan has created exhibitions and events in Asia, Europe and North America. The co-founder of Atelier Céladon in Montreal, she has also been the associate curator of public programs at Tai Kwun Contemporary in Hong Kong and the director-curator at Videotage, also in Hong Kong. She is a guest professor at the Korea National University of the Arts.
Chan's appointment is one of two that Tate Modern announced this week. Alvin Li was appointed to the role of curator, international art. He has been an adjunct curator at Tate since 2021 and was an artistic advisor to the 59th Venice Biennale.
