In response to the increasingly high costs of living, the Hnatyshyn Foundation has increased the cash value of almost all of its prizes for 2024.
The William and Meredith Saunderson Prizes for Emerging Artists are doubling from $5,000 to $10,000 each.
The Hnatyshyn Foundation Mid-Career Award for Excellence in Visual Arts and the Hnatyshyn Foundation Mid-Career Award for Curatorial Excellence are both increasing by $5,000, giving a Canadian mid-career artist and a curator each $30,000 and $20,000, respectively.
The Foundation is also creating a series of new awards to help launch emerging artists’ careers, supporting the development of new project development and/or training costs. Further announcements will be made later in 2024.
In 2023, Lan “Florence” Yee, Maggy Hamel-Metsos and Shaya Ishaq were awarded the William and Meredith Saunderson Prizes for Emerging Artists.
