Two hoseheads are breaking the corona virus social distancing rules in a new outdoor artwork in Edmonton.
Life-sized bronze statues of Bob and Doug McKenzie are now sitting, beers in hand, on a downtown bench in the Ice District, courtesy of Edmonton sculptor Ritchie Velthuis.
The popular Canadian icons are the creation of actors Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas, who developed the characters for the Great White North sketches on SCTV, which ran from 1976 to 1984.
“Bob and Doug were born in Edmonton over 40 years ago," said Thomas, now based in Los Angeles. "Edmonton is the perfect place for these statues because now we’re frozen stiff all year round, eh!”
