Ian Baxter& has been elevated to Companion of the Order of Canada, one of Canada’s highest honours.
He was cited for his prolific career as a conceptual artist and educator, and for his enduring contributions to Canadian contemporary art.
He was among 83 new appointments – and one of five companions – to the Order of Canada announced recently by Gov. Gen. Julie Payette.
Created in 1967, the Order of Canada honours people whose service shapes society, whose innovations ignite imaginations, and whose compassion unites communities.
Almost 7,000 people from all sectors of society have been invested into the Order of Canada.
