Interactive Digital Platform Planned for Inuit Art Centre
The Winnipeg Art Gallery's new Inuit Art Centre will feature an interactive digital platform so people around the globe can view Inuit carvings in its three-storey visible glass vault.
The platform, made possible with almost $500,000 from the Canada Council for the Arts, will feature stories behind the works, the gallery says.
Inuit videographers are invited to create short videos to amplify Inuit voices. The deadline for applications is July 17.
Almost 6,000 stone carvings from the gallery's collection and the Government of Nunavut’s Fine Arts Collection, held on long-term loan in Winnipeg, will be housed at the centre, expected to open next winter.
