Island Mountain Arts begins "Crow" funding campaign
CAWS funding program
The Island Mountain Arts School in Wells, BC has launched a Crow Funding Campaign in an attempt to raise $100,000 by September to buy a local property to accommodate artists, instructors, staff and residencies.
Why Does Island Mountain Arts Want to Buy a Property?
Island Mountain Arts has long identified the need for more space and accommodations for artists, instructors, staff and programs. Currently, the town of Wells is in a housing crisis with not enough places for people to live -- especially in the summer season. This need has come even more sharply into focus this year with the sale of the largest motel in town to use for miners' accommodations.
The property is right in the heart of historic Wells, a stone’s throw from the IMA gallery and school and right across the street from the Community Hall. In addition to providing for accommodation, the property provides a beautiful green space, lots of storage, and the potential to build more studio space for year-round residencies.
