Jennifer Dunkerson named Nelson Museum's Executive Director
Jennifer Dunkerson has been named as the Nelson Museum, Archives & Gallery's new executive director.
Dunkerson's previous experience includes positions at the Revelstoke Railway Museum, Columbia Basin Trust and Heritage BC. She has also served on the Board of Directors at the Nelson Museum.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jennifer Dunkerson as Executive Director,” says Board Chair Sheila Achilles. “Jennifer will continue to guide and support the incredible work of the staff, board, and volunteers, and further advance the mission and vision of the Museum, which has been serving the community for nearly 68 years.”
Dunkerson succeeds Astrid Heyerdahl, who was executive director from 2016 to November 2023.
Throughout the next few years, the museum has plans to expand public and education programs, the regional archives and collection and the Nelson Sports Collection. Plans are in the works, too, to redevelop the second-floor exhibition.
