Jess Richter Steps Down from Art Gallery of Regina
Jess Richter is leaving her position as director of the Art Gallery of Regina.
“I am leaving the AGR after 10 incredible years to pursue my own art practice, full time,” she says.
Richter became the director in 2019 after working as the gallery's program coordinator.
In her art, she explores folk horror and German-Canadian identity through diverse mediums, including drawing, printmaking, installation, film and performance.
“I’m very sad to leave such a vibrant and wonderful organization that has taught me so much and that I am so proud to have led,” she says.
Richter says she is looking forward to focusing on her own art practice, which is “richer and fuller” because of her experience at the gallery, working with mentors like Holly Fay, Karen Schoonover and Sandee Moore, and artists like Katherine Boyer, Marigold Santos and Amalie Atkins.
The gallery is looking for a new director. Richter will continue until March 31 to train her replacement.
