The Writing on the Wall, a show by the late Joane Cardinal-Schubert that is circulated by the Nickle Galleries at the University of Calgary, opens in Saskatoon on Feb. 1.
The exhibition, curated by Lindsey V. Sharman, reflects the cyclical nature of her work, including pivotal pieces in painting, drawing, printmaking, collage, ceramics and installation.
Although she never claimed to be political and rejected a feminist label, her work recognizes the life of an Indigenous Canadian woman is political.
The show runs from Feb. 1 to April 27 at the College Art Galleries at the University of Saskatchewan. The show is shared with Wanuskewin Galleries.
